You'll see a 1944 North American B-25J Mitchell medium bomber, a 1945 Avenger torpedo bomber, and a 1941 U.S. Army observation plane.   3. First Missouri Capitol State Historic Site - 200 S. Main St., St. Charles, MO 63301
    If you're visiting St. Charles' Main Street for the history, shops, and other attractions, make sure to stop by the First Missouri Capitol State Historic Site. This Federal-style brick complex, restored in the 1960s and '70s, was the home of the state's first capitol from 1821-1826. Take a tour back in time through the building as a guide explains the significance of each artifact and gives you a glimpse into the workings of the state's early government.

  4. The Historic Daniel Boone Home -1868 Highway F, Defiance, MO 63341
    Although it's called The Historic Daniel Boone Home, you can tour the home and much more as you explore the almost 300-acre site. The home was built by Boone's son Nathan between 1804 and 1810, and it was the last permanent residence of Daniel and his wife, Rebecca. Explore the four-story stone home as well as the adjacent village historic site. Its 12 buildings were moved and reconstructed to give visitors a look into the past with its general store, schoolhouse, and chapel with a reconstructed pipe organ.   5. Zumwalt's Fort at Fort Zumwalt Park - 1000 Jessup Drive W, O'Fallon, MO 63366
    Zumwalt's Fort
    is a large log home built by Jacob Zumwalt and his extended family around 1798. It served as a shelter for American settlers during the War of 1812. One of over 35 "settler forts" in Missouri, it stands today as the state's only rebuilt fort from the War of 1812.
