Is the oldest neighborhood in St. Louis, Soulard is known for its French heritage. Throughout the neighborhood, buildings are marked with our historic architecture and appreciation of yesteryear. Located about 5 minutes from Downtown St. Louis, the neighborhood offers an easy commute for professionals, as well as exceptional restaurants and nightlife. Soulard is a neighborhood built from a diverse population with a rich history. The historic churches and Soulard Farmers Market, which has been the pride of the community since 1779, attract visitors and residents continuously throughout the year.
Nothing exemplifies Soulard's French history more than its annual Mardi Gras fête. Each year, thousands of people descend upon the neighborhood for the parade and array of live events and vendors. During the rest of the year, Soulard is mainly a residential neighborhood; however, it remains the home of Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which has a large footprint on the south side of the neighborhood.
Sunset Hills is one of the younger cities in Missouri, incorporated in 1957. Since then, Sunset Hills has grown by leaps and bounds.
