As its name implies, the city of Town and Country’s rural charm is evident in the predominance of spacious residential lots and large green tracts of undeveloped open space. In keeping in line with that philosophy, commercial areas tend to be fewer and closer to major roadways, described by approving locals as “less invasive” than most of St. Louis’s other “less relaxed” major suburbs.

The Town and Country/Frontenac area has many national chain and local flavor boutique shops. Shopping centers are as diverse as they are numerous, including Mason Woods Village, Lamp and Lantern Village, Manchester Meadows, Woods Mill Center, Old Frontenac Square, Frontenac Grove, Le Chateau Village, Clayton Village and Schnucks Woods Mill Plaza. The most popular place to go shopping, and to catch a bite to eat is at the Plaza Frontenac. There you’ll find many restaurants and over 40 stores, including Missouri’s only Saks Fifth Avenue.
The Plaza Frontenac Cinema, located in nearby Frontenac, is a six screen fine art movie theater.
Parks and Recreation
The city’s three parks – Drace Park, Longview Farm Park, and Preservation Park – feature paved and unpaved trails, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, a fishing lake, and athletic fields.
